1. General

  • • Your article must fall within the journal’s scope and meet appropriate scholarly standards. Please read the journal’s Aims and Scope to confirm suitability.
  • • The manuscript must be your original work. You must hold the rights to the work and obtain (and be able to provide) all necessary permissions to reproduce any copyrighted material not owned by you, including figures, illustrations, tables, lengthy quotations, or other material previously published elsewhere.
  • • All manuscripts must be submitted through the journal’s online submission system. The system allows authors to create an account, submit manuscripts, and track the status of their submissions.
  • • For details on manuscript preparation and formatting, please consult the journal’s Style Guide.

2. Submission

  • Journal of Humanities and AI (JHAI) is published quarterly (March 31, June 30, September 30, and December 31) by the Institute for Digital Humanities and Interdisciplinary Studies, Korea University.
  • • Deadlines for submission are January 31, April 30, July 31, and October 31, respectively.
  • • The dates of submission, completion of peer review, and acceptance will be indicated in the published article.
  • • Copyright for all accepted papers will be held by the Institute for Digital Humanities and Interdisciplinary Studies.

3. Review and Publication Process

  • • Submitted manuscripts are evaluated for publication by a screening committee of two specialists in fields relevant to the submission.
  • • The editorial board commissions the screening committee.
  • • The journal employs a double-blind peer review process, in which the identities of both authors and reviewers are kept confidential from each other throughout the evaluation.
  • • The screening evaluation will be categorized as “publishable,” “publishable after revision,” “re-examination after revision,” or “unpublishable.”
  • • If disagreement arises among screening committee members regarding an evaluation, the manuscript will undergo an additional review, as determined by the editorial board.
  • • The editorial board will inform authors of the screening outcome.
  • • Authors of accepted manuscripts are required to address any editorial requests issued by the screening committee.

4. Archiving Policy

  • • All full-text content of the Journal of Humanities and AI (JHAI) (PDF or JATS XM) is deposited in the institutional repository maintained by the Korea Research Foundation, Republic of Korea, known as the Korea Citation Index (KCI), available at https://www.kci.go.kr/ and listed in the Directory of Open Access Repositories (http://www.opendoar.org/countrylist.php?cContinent=Asia#Korea).
  • • Additionally, content will be deposited in ScienceCentral, maintained by the Korea Federation of Science and Technology Societies and supported by the Korean government, available at https://www.e-sciencecentral.org/.

5. Article-processing fees

  • • No submission or article processing fees are charged. Publication costs are fully covered by the publisher.

6. Authorship

  • • The journal requires that all published articles provide clear and accurate attribution of authorship. The corresponding author is responsible for ensuring that all contributors are appropriately acknowledged and that the author list accurately reflects each contributor’s role, in accordance with the CRediT Contributor Role Taxonomy.

7. Ethical Considerations

  • • Authors must comply with the journal’s Research and Publication Ethics, upholding principles of transparency, accuracy, and integrity in the presentation of their research.
